The NFL schedule is set to officially be released tomorrow at 8PM EST and the Buffalo Bills will soon find out when they will be playing their opponents. They already know who they will face, now it’s just a matter of when. The Bills already know that their home opener will take place in Week 2 on Thursday Night Football where they take on the Detroit Lions.
Since it they will debut their new stadium in the second week, this means that the Bills are bound to hit the road in Week 1 to kick off the 2026 season. Now, it's just knowing who they will be going up against. The perfect Week 1 opponent for the Bills would have been the New England Patriots, considering that the Patriots took the division away from Buffalo.
However, an early Patriots vs. Bills battle won't take place as Jordan Schultz has reported that the Patriots will be the Seattle Seahawks' opening opponent to kick off the 2026 season in Seattle. It's a Super Bowl rematch from February where the Seahawks completely embarrassed the Patriots.
Sources: The #Seahawks will open the 2026 season at home with a Super Bowl rematch against the #Patriots.

Bills miss out on early clash with Patriots in 2026 season
The mystery on who Buffalo will be traveling to in Week 1 to start the 2026 season lives on. If the NFL had decided to put a Buffalo vs. New England Week 1 matchup in Foxborough, it would have set the tone on what these two top teams in the division will be like throughout the season.
Last season, the Patriots captured the division after the Bills had won it for five consecutive seasons. Buffalo is now in a new era with Joe Brady as the head coach, and the roster is a lot more different, especially on the defense.
Now that New England is heading to Seattle for the season opener, the Bills will have to wait to see who they will be taking on. With the New York Giants set to host Sunday Night Football in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys, it’s hard to imagine that the Bills will travel to MetLife to take on the New York Jets.Â
There is a possibility that Buffalo could go to Miami in Week 1, but fans should be hoping that the Bills aren’t sent to south Florida when it’s still very humid there in September.
