After a quick stop back in Orchard Park in Week 7, the Buffalo Bills will once again hit the road for a Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Buffalo comes into this game at 5-2, while the Seahawks are 4-3 under new head coach Mike Macdonald. With this being an out-of-conference game, this game won’t affect any playoff tiebreaker scenarios, but it is still an important game in the middle of the season.

This is the time of year where the Bills have a history of losing these kinds of games. They tend to go through a rough stretch that puts them in a tough spot going into the second half of the season. However, finding themselves at 5-2 after there were a lot of doubters shows all of us that the Bills are still one of the top contenders in the entire league.

One of Seattle’s biggest strengths through seven games is their passing attack that is led by Geno Smith. He is 15 yards shy of 2,000 passing yards but he does have an 8 touchdown-to-6 interception ratio. However, one of the reasons why Smith has been able to throw the ball down the field is because of star wide receiver D.K. Metcalf.

Metcalf already has 61 targets on the season from Smith for 35 receptions, 568 yards and 3 scores. The next closest receiver to Metcalf in terms of receiving yards is Tyler Lockett with 384.

While Metcalf has been phenomenal for Seattle this season, he suffered a Grade 1 sprained MCL and is considered week-to-week, according to Adam Schefter.

Buffalo Bills may not need to worry about D.K. Metcalf in Week 8

Injuries are the worst part of the game. However, teams are always looking for advantages against their opponents and if Metcalf isn’t ready to go this coming Sunday, this puts the Bills in a much better position on defense. While Buffalo’s secondary has done a great job this season adjusting, Metcalf is a physical player who can win one-on-one or even rise above double coverage.

This isn’t to say that Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba aren’t solid players themselves, but Metcalf is the biggest threat on Seattle’s offense. Now it looks like the Seahawks will be going up against a great pass defense without their number one pass catcher. This will be a situation that Bills fans will need to monitor closely as Week 8 slowly approaches.
