We are less than 24 hours from kickoff in Orchard Park, where the Buffalo Bills will have to prove to the NFL world that they are still contenders. After last week’s embarrassment of a performance against the Miami Dolphins, they have a tough task to take down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
One of the reasons why the Bills are 6-3 is because of the lack of talent that they have within their wide receiver room. Brandon Beane opted to not go out and get a proven No. 1 target for Josh Allen last offseason, and then he failed to land one before the trade deadline.
He has been taking a lot of heat because of how this offense has performed, specifically at that position. It also doesn’t help that Joe Brady has been calling plays that don’t seem to fit this offense very well. Now, the Bills might have a new-look wideout room for atleast this week's game against Tampa.
Bills make changes at WR room ahead of matchup vs. Bucs
According to the Buffalo Bills’ PR team, the Bills are not only elevating Gabe Davis to the active roster from the practice squad, but they officially signed Mecole Hardman to the roster after he was signed to the practice squad just this past week.
The Bills brought in Hardman just this past week to try and add both speed and versatility. While Hardman could be featured on special teams, he should find his way onto the offense against Tampa. The fact that the Bills are already signing him to the active roster proves that they see something in him, so hopefully fans will as well.
As for Davis, he was surprisingly released by the Jacksonville Jaguars this past offseason and he opted to sign with the Bills’ practice squad while recovering from a knee injury he suffered last season. For the first time since the 2023 season, he should be suited up in a Bills uniform.
Davis had a big up-and-down career with the Bills. He either was the go-to guy, or was nowhere to be found. Now he gets the chance to prove that he still belongs in the NFL with the quarterback that helped land the 3-year, $39 million deal with the Jaguars in 2024.
