Anderson is now coming back to Buffalo, and it’s a move that Bills fans should be excited about because he is so valuable to the protection for not just Josh Allen, but also the rushing attack.
Buffalo’s rushing attack has grown a lot the last couple of years and Anderson has played a huge role in it. At first, Anderson was part of a jumbo package that brought in an extra lineman to add an extra blocker. He excelled as he helped open up the running lanes. Then, he started seeing playing time in the top five spots due to injury and he took advantage of it.
His best moment from 2025 was when both he and Ryan Van Demark had to play the offensive tackle positions against the Steelers because Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown were out with injuries. A lot of people thought that the Bills weren’t going to be able to do anything.
Instead, the Bills ran for 249 yards against Pittsburgh and the Bills scored 26 unanswered points to win 26-7. Anderson and Van Demark were praised for stepping up against a duo like T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith.
Bills re-signing Alec Anderson is solid first offseason move
We all know that the Bills are in some trouble salary cap wise, but it’s nothing that Brandon Beane can’t clean up. He’s done it before and now he needs to do it again.Â
However, one of the biggest priorities that the Bills have is protecting their franchise guy in Josh Allen. That means putting the best offensive line possible in front of him that will keep him upright.
Anderson could very well be a starter in 2026 considering that the Bills are set to lose LG David Edwards and C Connor McGovern to free agency. Anderson has experience playing everywhere across the line, so the versatility factor is not a problem at all.
To bring back a super underrated protector for this price is a great start for Beane, who faces a ton of pressure to deliver a great offseason for fans. Now, Beane needs to keep this momentum going and going strong.
