The road to the 2025 season is officially on for the Buffalo Bills. The Philadelphia Eagles took care of business against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, winning 40-22. This game was not close whatsoever, and it kind of makes you think about what the Eagles would have done to the Bills if they were the AFC representatives…
However, they had to watch the Super Bowl from home and they saw the Chiefs get beaten down by the Eagles. The Bills are now shifting into full offseason mode to reload and make another run at the Super Bowl starting in September.
Prior to kickoff from New Orleans, the Bills made the decision to part ways with Special Teams coordinator Matthew Smiley. After a lot of inconsistency on special teams, Smiley is out of Buffalo and the Bills are going to be searching for a new special teams coordinator. While they moved on from one coach, they are reportedly hiring a coach within the division who could be a fantastic hire that no one is talking about.
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Bills are set to hire Mike Pellegrino, who has been with the New England Patriots since 2015 as both a coaching assistant and as their cornerbacks coach.

The hiring of Mike Pellegrino by Bills is very underrated
Pellegrino has worked with cornerbacks like Stephon Gilmore, Jonathan Jones, Marcus Jones, Christian Gonzalez, Malcolm Butler, and JC Jackson, all of who have been solid cornerbacks at one point or another in New England.
With Buffalo bringing in Pellegrino, not only do they acquire someone who can coach up this secondary that needs help, but they also weaken their division rival. The Bills have a shutdown corner in Christian Benford and a solid nickel corner in Taron Johnson, but the rest of the room isn’t as solid. Rasul Douglas is set to hit free agency. Kaiir Elam has officially become a bust and Cam Lewis has shown flashes of being good but he’s only a rotational player.
The Bills for sure have some work to do with their secondary, but having someone like Pellegrino is going to be very beneficial for them.
