When the Buffalo Bills take the field in less than 24 hours against the Houston Texans, a lot of eyes will be on DJ Moore who was Buffalo’s biggest acquisition this offseason. With the Bills sending the Chicago Bears a 2nd round pick for him, fans are expecting Moore to deliver big time for this offense.
Moore has the chance to show the NFL that his last two years in Chicago were not a true reflection of who he once was in his Carolina days, as well as his first year with the Bears.
DJ Moore enters perfect situation with Bills
First, who wouldn't want to catch passes from Josh Allen? Moore is the new No. 1 target for Allen and the duo could make for one of the best in the league this season. Let's not forget that Moore played under Joe Brady back in Carolina where he had back-to-back 1,100+ yard seasons.
Even though it looks like a great setup for the entire season, Moore faces a tough challenge against a top Houston secondary. It won't be easy at all for Moore to be productive, and Seth Walder from ESPN has given a prediction about Moore that Bills fans won't like at all (but it's very possible that it happens).
Week 1 DJ Moore prediction has unfortunate potential to come true
NFL Nation writers from ESPN put together tidbits for each Week 1 game going into tomorrow and Seth Walder listed predictions for each upcoming game. When it came to the Bills and Texans, Walder is projecting that Moore will have little to no impact at all against Houston's secondary, simply because of the matchups he will see.
"Bills WR DJ Moore will be held to two or fewer receptions. Perhaps Buffalo's newest playmaker will deliver at some point this season. But I don't think it will be against Derek Stingley Jr. or Kamari Lassiter." said Seth Walder, ESPN
Derek Stingley Jr. is the second best corner only behind Patrick Surtain II of the Denver Broncos, and with Moore coming into this game as Buffalo's top target for Allen, fans should expect to see this matchup frequently.
Sure, maybe Moore will get atleast one impactful play. However, Stingley Jr. is an elite corner who can lock down receivers. If Moore can't create separation from his defender, that is going to put the Bills' offense in a tough predicament throughout the game. We saw it last year when Buffalo's receivers couldn't get open at all, and that's the last thing they need again against the Texans.
