Ever since the Buffalo Bills signed safety Geno Stone, they have been quiet on the free agency board. They have signed free agents like Stone, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Bradley Chubb, and Dee Alford. Buffalo also acquired D.J. Moore and extended both Connor McGovern and Dawson Knox.
Since those moves, the Bills haven’t been active. The moves they have made have had great impact, but there hasn’t been a ton of them and there are players that are signing now and Buffalo has yet to strike during the second wave.
The Bills still have a need to add another receiver or two before the draft, and they just missed an opportunity to add one who not only brings versatility but also has connections with some new coaches on the Bills.
According to Tom Pelissero, former Cardinals wide receiver Greg Dortch is signing a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions where he will team up again with offensive coordinator Drew Petzing.

Bills lose out on adding quality WR depth with Greg Dortch
Dortch has been in Arizona since 2021 where he has been a receiver and special teams returner. In two out of his five seasons returning punts, he’s reached over 200 yards. On kickoffs, he is coming off an 811 yard return season.
As a receiver, Dortch was part of a Cardinals offense that had instability at quarterback and a receiving room that had Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Wilson, and Trey McBride. Obviously, Dortch was never a main target in the offense. However, his versatility would have been great with Buffalo.
Not to mention, the Bills brought in new wide receivers coach Drew Terrell and new special teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers, both who came from Arizona so there was familiarity. Instead, Dortch chose Petzing up in the NFC North.
Another free agent wide receiver is off the board and the Bills need to act fast if they want to bring in atleast one more veteran and then potentially draft a rookie. D.J. Moore is a quality No. 1 and Khalil Shakir is a solid slot receiver. However, Buffalo still needs depth and Dortch would have been a great addition on just a one-year deal.
