The Buffalo Bills will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tomorrow night which will be their final preseason game before the regular season kicks off. The Bills are coming off a horrendous performance against the Chicago Bears, being blown out 38-0 where the best player for Buffalo was arguably Brad Robbins, the punter.

This final preseason game will be one more opportunity for players to prove why they deserve a roster spot for the regular season. We know who the locks are, of course. However, we don’t know for sure who will be backing up all of the starters. That’s what preseason is meant for.

After tomorrow’s game, the front office will have to decide who stays and who goes. It won’t be an easy job though because any player that is released, could have the chance to be signed somewhere else and make an impact. In addition, players could be traded as well. Brandon Beane has shown he isn't afraid to make a trade to add assets and you have to wonder if he will do it again.

Bills' listed trade candidate makes perfect sense

Eric Edholm from CBS Sports listed Bills’ second-year defensive tackle DeWayne Carter as a possible trade candidate ahead of the regular season. Here’s what Edholm said about Carter:

"A 2024 third-round pick, Carter found himself playing far deeper into the last preseason game against the Bears than either of the Bills' two rookie defensive tackles, T.J. Sanders or Deone Walker. That might be an indication of a lower spot on Buffalo's depth chart for Carter, even with Larry Ogunjobi (who doesn't appear guaranteed to make this team, for what it's worth) set to miss the first six weeks of the season with a suspension. If the Bills could get something in return for Carter, perhaps from a DL-needy team such as the 49ers, they might be willing to loosen up the logjam at the position a bit."

In Carter’s defence, he did deal with a wrist injury in the middle of the season and did not get the chance to build up any momentum. However, with the Bills trading up twice for two defensive tackles this past draft and already having Ed Oliver, it’s not a great look for Carter.

Maybe the Bills could get some draft capital in return for Carter. If the Bills do indeed decide to trade Carter away after just one season, it will be a major miss for Beane as he spent a 3rd round pick on him just a year ago.
