In just eight days, the NFL’s legal tampering period will open up and teams will be allowed to negotiate with pending free agents. However, deals can be officially signed until Wednesday, March 11th at 4PM EST.
The Buffalo Bills will be a team that fans will watch as they are expected to make some movies in order to stay in the Super Bowl window under new head coach, Joe Brady. Even though the defense needs some renovation with Jim Leonhard now calling the defense, the wide receiver position will be the biggest storyline for the Bills.
They have a superstar quarterback in Josh Allen, but they don't have consistent dynamic playmakers on the outside. With Allen starting to slowly approach the back end of his prime, Brandon Beane must do whatever it takes to upgrade the wide receiver room.
The only problem is that Buffalo does have a tight cap space situation, so they may not be able to make the big splash that fans want. However, that doesn't mean that they won't do anything either.
Bills linked to 2 NFC wideouts, including Super Bowl 60 champion
Jeremy Fowler from ESPN reports that the Bills are expected to address the wide receiver position in the coming weeks and the two names that are being linked to the Bills are Seahawks’ Rashid Shaheed and Packers’ Romeo Doubs.
"Rival teams expect Buffalo to strongly address wide receiver in the coming weeks. And multiple league executives are linking Rashid Shaheed or Romeo Doubs to the Bills. Alec Pierce will most likely be out of their price range." said Fowler.
Shaheed was coveted at the NFL trade deadline last season, and he was dealt to the Seahawks from the Saints. It’s safe to say that things worked out well for Shaheed as he can add the term Super Bowl champion to his resume.
As for Doubs, he is an intriguing option. While he’s not a true WR1, Doubs is someone that can bring a different skillset to Buffalo. As a former 4th-round pick back in 2022, Doubs has overcome expectations with over 2,400+ yards and 21 touchdowns. He will be 26 years old next month so he is entering his prime, and maybe Buffalo can capitalize by bringing him in.
Doubs’ current market value is listed at $12 million per Spotrac, which is reasonable considering the projection that he is on with what he has done with the Packers. Again, he’s not a true WR1 right now, but maybe giving him Josh Allen as his quarterback is exactly what he needs to elevate his game even more.
