In the wake of some massive news, the Buffalo Bills now have to set out to replace former head coach Sean McDermott. Of course, the team announced it had fired McDermott just days after their heartbreaking loss in the AFC's Divisional Round.
After a move that stunned the locker room, it won't be easy to find someone who can come in and earn as much trust and respect as the team had for McDermott. But, maybe the Bills get creative in their head coaching search in order to find someone who may already have built some trust.
In conjunction with the news that Buffalo has requested to interview their former offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll, another bit of news broke that officially has the team interviewing the man currently in that role.
The Bills will, indeed, be interviewing offensive coordinator Joe Brady for their head coaching vacancy.
Bills fans are likely split on Buffalo interviewing Joe Brady to be their next head coach
For the past two years, Brady has been in his position in Buffalo. And, for two years, there have been some whispers about Brady potentially getting some head coaching buzz. He has, after all, led the Bills to being a top-10 offense in both of his seasons with Buffalo.
Now, that buzz is materializing a little more. He's been involved in this year's coaching cycle, but there's been nothing imminent just yet. Now, the Bills could be looking to keep him around by way of promoting him in McDermott's place.
This could be in effort to not lose continuity, altogether, since Brady has the trust of his locker room having been there for a couple of years.
Yet, Bills fans could be split, here. There is a large portion of the fan base that disagrees with him being a capable play caller. If he's hired, then something has to give, and that something happens to be named Brandon Beane.
Maybe, we just haven't gotten to see enough from Brady because of Beane's failures as a general manager. Of course, Beane got himself a promotion in this process, which is fairly laughable.
The pressure is on. Beane absolutely must go out and get Josh Allen some quality wide receivers. James Cook is a stud. The tight end room is top-tier. But, Allen has had one of the worst wide receiver rooms in football for a couple of seasons now, and that has to change.
We can also touch on the defense, too, but for the sake of this topic and Brady being interviewed, Beane has to set him up for success; that is, if Brady winds up getting the job.
