One big criticism that the Buffalo Bills have faced is their wide receiver room. After going 13-4 last season without a true No. 1 wideout for Josh Allen, it seemed like the Bills thought they could go another season without one.
While they did sign Joshua Palmer, Elijah Moore (who has been released), and drafted Kaden Prather (who didn’t make the practice squad), the Bills still have a huge gap at wide receiver.
Khalil Shakir is a solid slot receiver, but he’s not a true No. 1. Keon Coleman is nowhere near being a top target. The Bills overall need to bring in a go-to wideout on the outside for Allen like they did with Stefon Diggs for years. Don’t get me wrong, the Bills were able to win without Diggs, but the lack of production is there and it’s hurting the Bills this season.
Buffalo won’t get that kind of receiver this season, but no matter the end result for them this season, Brandon Beane must make it a top priority to get Allen a true top receiver whether it’s through free agency or next year’s draft.
NFL mock draft has Bills giving Josh Allen a true No. 1 wideout
Ryan Wilson from CBS Sports put together a mock draft for next year’s draft and Wilson has the Bills taking Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.
"Tyson is an explosive receiver with the size, speed, and catch radius to win at all three levels. A smooth hands-catcher, he consistently makes contested and high-point grabs look effortless while creating surprising separation at the top of his routes for his size. Tyson can hit top end in just a few steps and shows the type of short-area quickness reserved for smaller, shiftier WRs. He's also an asset in the screen game, making him a dynamic threat both outside and from the slot."Ryan Wilson, CBS Sports
Tyson has had a solid season with the Sun Devils up to this point. He’s got over 60 catches for 711 yards and 8 touchdowns. In four games this season, Tyson has recorded 100+ yards and he’s only not scored in three games. Not to mention, he has scored multiple touchdowns in two games.
At 6-foot-2 and 200lbs, he has the size but he also has explosiveness to his game. That’s what Buffalo is lacking from their wide receiver room. The Bills don’t have anyone on the outside that makes defenses scared. I’m not saying that Tyson will come in and be the immediate answer to this problem, but it would be a step in the right direction to fix this problem for Josh Allen.
