There is no doubt that the Buffalo Bills are feeling great about themselves after their comeback win against the New England Patriots. Being down 24-7 going into halftime, almost everyone had the Patriots winning that game because of how dominant they were in the first half. Well, the Bills silenced all doubters by outscoring New England 28-7 in the second half and winning 35-31.
Buffalo has now had to pull off comeback wins in their last two games which is a thriller, but it’s not sustainable. With three games remaining in the regular season, the Bills have to find a way to take care of business early on rather than having it go down to the wire. This week, they are heading back onto the road to take on a team that they should easily handle, but we all know that nothing is given in this league.
The Bills will take on the 3-11 Cleveland Browns who are coming off a 31-3 loss against the Chicago Bears. On paper, the Bills are clearly the better team but they have to avoid putting themselves into a trap game situation. However, that’s exactly what it is set up to be and there is one factor that plays a role in it.
Bills must do whatever it takes to contain DE Myles Garrett
For as bad as Cleveland is this season, the one bright spot on their team is edge rusher Myles Garrett who is just one sack away from tying the record for most sacks in a season that is held by T.J. Watt and Michael Strahan (22.5).
While Buffalo should not ignore other impactful players on Cleveland, we all know that Garrett is the main focus to keep from taking over a game. There’s only been three games this season where Garrett didn’t bring down the quarterback. There was a four week stretch where he had 13 sacks which is what is helping him reach and potentially breaking the record.
For as solid as Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown have been, Garrett is in another league when it comes to production. I seriously doubt that Garrett won’t get to Allen atleast once. There’s a good chance that he will break the record against Buffalo, but that might be their only win of the day if Buffalo avoids playing Cleveland’s game.
Coming off of two great comeback wins in their last two games, the Bills enter a trap game situation where they will face the clear best defensive player in football coming off the edge. The task is to just contain Garrett because quite frankly, I don’t believe he will be fully stopped one bit.
