Bills give Josh Allen a lethal playmaker in NFL mock draft roundup

This would be a fun sight!

The Buffalo Bills' Super Bowl hopes came to a crashing halt once again but now they turn their attention to the offseason. The 2025 NFL Draft is a chance for the Bills to add pieces to help this team finally get over the hump that is the playoffs.

This time last year, a lot of people were writing the Bills off. They lost a lot of key players in free agency and had traded away Stefon Diggs for virtually nothing. That led many to believe the Bills were suddenly useless and wouldn't be doing anything in 2024.

Well, the joke was on those people because the Bills won their division for the fifth straight year and were one win away from appearing in their first Super Bowl since 1994. When Diggs was traded, the thought was that Josh Allen was losing his most explosive weapon and therefore the offense wouldn't be as good but what happened next was that Allen would learn to lean on everyone else and spread the football around more.

That being said, adding another wide receiver to the Bills offense could only help Allen and the team thrive so it isn't surprising to see mock drafts taking Buffalo in that direction.

Mock drafts linking Bills to one key wide receiver

The Athletic: Matthew Golden, WR (Texas)

Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic had the Bills selecting Matthew Golden with the 30th pick. Buscaglia points out that while, yes, the Bills need help on defense, Golden still fits an area of need for Buffalo's offense. Golden had just shy of 1,000 yards and scored nine touchdowns with the Longhorns in 2024.

NFL.com: Matthew Golden, WR (Texas)

Normally I'd grade each individual pick but since two of the three mock drafts I'm including here had the Bills picking the same player, I'll just bunch these two entries together rather than give the same grade twice. Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com reiterated that the Bills have plenty of needs on defense but said that Golden was simply too good to pass up with the 30th pick.

The Bills could certainly use more help on the offensive side of the ball but sometimes the draft board falls in a different direction. Golden wouldn't be a bad pick and would help the offense continue to thrive so that's a win in my book.

Sports Illustrated: Kenneth Grant, DT (Michigan)

Daniel Flick of Sports Illustrated went a different route in his mock draft and had Buffalo addressing the defensive side of the ball. Flick linked the Bills to Kenneth Grant, a defensive tackle out of Michigan. Flick said that the Bills "need a traditional, big-bodied defensive tackle in the middle of their line. Grant, who’s 6' 3" and weighs 339 pounds, checks that box," when describing why this pick makes sense.

The Bills need help on the defensive side of the ball and Grant would add a pass-rushing presence to their roster. He had three sacks in 2024 and has the size that can absolutely dominate the opposition. The more help on defense, the merrier.
