While the Buffalo Bills got to enjoy their first win in their new Highmark Stadium against the Detroit Lions, the first half was highlighted by consecutive touchdowns and a potential serious loss on the offense.
Before the end of the first half, the Bills were driving and were looking to get into the endzone for a 4th time. Josh Allen rolled out to the right and fired the ball towards DJ Moore but it fell incomplete. On the way down to the ground, Moore hit the ground hard on his shoulder and it caused the game to stop while he was being attended to.
Right away, there was instant fear that maybe Moore had done something to his collarbone just because of the way he landed. While he was able to walk under his own power, he went back to the locker room and didn't return to the game.
DJ Moore injury put fear into Bills fans
The main reason why the Bills traded for Moore this past offseason was because of the lack of overall talent in the Bills' wide receiver room the last two years. Now granted, Keon Coleman stepped up in Moore's absence, but Moore is the No. 1 receiver for this offense, and it looked like he may miss some serious time.
The good news is that the injury doesn't appear to be as serious as fans may have thought it was. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Moore's injury is not considered serious and it will leave him as a day-to-day. Schefter said that his source said "He [Moore] has a chance to play next week (vs. the Chargers), but its not a lock, either." said Schefter.
ESPN's Ian Rapoport then reported that Moore is believed to have suffered an AC joint sprain, which is the best case scenario considering what other possibilities were.
Bills catch big break with DJ Moore injury update (but they should not rush him back)
The Bills will have extra preparation for Week 3 when they host the Los Angeles Chargers, which means they will have extra rest time. As for Moore, this could help him possibly play in Week 3, but there should be no rush to get him back.
It’s still very early in the season, and the offense still excelled in the second half without Moore. While it would obviously be great to have Moore back on the field against the Chargers, rushing him back would be a bad idea.
