Whenever we think of the Buffalo Bills, nine times out of ten we always thing about Josh Allen immediately. The face of the franchise has the Bills heading into the playoffs just in a couple weeks and he will be looking to get the Bills over their playoff hump.
Throughout this season, we have seen Allen make all sorts of history, both in Bills and NFL history. Whether he is scoring 3 rushing and 3 passing touchdowns in a game or even throws, runs, and catches a touchdown pass all in one game, Allen is making all sorts of history for the Bills. Even in today’s game against the Jets, Allen’s rushing touchdown in the first quarter was his 65th career rushing touchdown which ties Thurman Thomas for the most in Bills’ history.
Allen is the biggest star in Buffalo and it’s almost impossible to ignore his production. However, he isn’t always the one making history for the Bills…
There are times when we see running back James Cook make history himself, as well as even individual defensive players. One unit that has helped the Bills today against the Jets is their defensive line, as they made some history themselves.
Buffalo Bills make history that didn’t involve Josh Allen
In the middle of the second quarter, defensive Greg Rousseau tipped a pass by Aaron Rodgers and Bills’ defensive tackle Jordan Phillips came down with the interception to give the ball back to Allen and the offense.
According to the Buffalo Bills PR X account, the Bills have three interceptions by defensive tackles this season (Austin Johnson with two, Jordan Phillips with one) and it’s the most by any team since the 2011 Miami Dolphins (Randy Starks with two, Jared Odrick with one).
Buffalo’s defensive line has a been a little bit of a liability this season, or atleast one of the weaker units this season. Seeing them causing and forcing turnovers is a great thing for Bills fans to see as the team starts to approach the playoffs. The defense for the Bills has been playing great in Week 17 and they will look to continue to shutout Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense.
