Bills fans must hope Dolphins make incredible QB mistake this offseason

For as much as the NFL world was laughing at the Buffalo Bills after their playoff loss against Denver, and then eventually moving on from Sean McDermott, the Bills are still one of the top teams in the NFL and that is because of Josh Allen.

The reigning MVP had yet another incredible year when you consider the playmakers he had around him at wide receiver. There were a handful of games where he carried the team to victory. He has the abilities that not a lot of quarterbacks have, and most teams would take Allen to be their quarterback.

The Bills know how lucky they are to have Allen on the team. Other teams across the league wish they had a quarterback like Allen, or heck, just a reliable option at quarterback. One team that has a mess at quarterback is right in the AFC East with the Bills.

Since 2020, the Miami Dolphins have been going through tough quarterback situations with Tua Tagovailoa. He would get benched, start the next week, and then get benched again in his rookie season. When Mike McDaniel then became the coach in Miami, he helped Tua become a somewhat above-average quarterback but their success was extremely limited and Tua completely went downhill in production this past season.

McDaniel is out, and now the Dolphins are going with Jeff Hafley as head coach, and Jon-Eric Sullivan is the new GM down in south beach. They have a tough task to bring in a quarterback of the future.

Dolphins pinned as landing spot for pending free agent QB (and Bills fans can only laugh)

Zachary Pereles from CBS Sports put together a list of landing spots for some pending free agents, and one of them was quarterback Malik Willis landing with the Dolphins.

"This has already become a popular landing spot ever since the Dolphins hired former Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. Willis would be a good mid-range option: a quarterback with the potential to be more than a bridge guy, but not one who would require a big contract."

Jordan Love missed some action this season, and Malik Willis stepped in as the backup. Don’t get me wrong, Willis did show some impressive play, but he didn’t win a game for Green Bay. Willis finished with 422 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Packers. Against the Bears, Willis only threw for 121 yards and 1 touchdown. Green Bay lost in overtime to Chicago.

Willis then played against the Ravens and while Willis himself had a solid game, the Packers still lost 41-24. Willis had three total touchdowns and over 300 total yards. That loss wasn’t on him, I’ll give him that credit.

At the same time, if the Dolphins decide to give Willis a chance at being their starter whether it’s a bridge situation or a potential long-term option, it could easily set them back yet more years from becoming a true contender in the division and the conference. This isn’t to say that Willis doesn’t have talent, but he is more of a solid backup than an every game starter at this point in his career.
