Buffalo Bills fans are extremely lucky to see the Bills in a time of their franchise where they have been a year-in and year-out championship contender. Ever since they drafted Josh Allen, things have been going up for the Bills and from 2020-2024, they ruled the AFC East and they made two AFC title games in that span.
However, due to Sean McDermott not getting the team over the postseason hump and failing to reach the Super Bowl, he was shown the door in January. Now, it’s Joe Brady’s team and he will work alongside Brandon Beane to try and deliver a Lombardi trophy to Western New York.
Even with the changes within the coaching staff and the roster, fans should not be mistaken. The Bills are still very well contenders and they will be expected to be making a run at the Super Bowl led by Josh Allen. While the Bills are clear-cut contenders, two of their division rivals find themselves on a laughable list created by Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report.
Dolphins and Jets being placed on exclusive list has Bills fans laughing
Knox recently placed the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets on a list of teams who are most likely to tank for 2027, now that the massive wave of free agency and the draft are completed. Both of these AFC East rivals were listed with Cardinals, Falcons, Browns, and Titans.
Knox on the Dolphins:
"Even if [Malik] Willis plays up to the ceiling he flashed in Green Bay (134.6 QB rating), he may not win many games with a rookie-heavy roster and a first-time head coach in Jeff Hafley. If that's the case, Miami could target a blue-chip receiver prospect like Ohio State's Smith or a lineman like Texas' Trevor Goosby to aid Willis. If the Willis experiment doesn't go as planned, the Dolphins could target a top QB prospect and keep the veteran around as a one-year bridge in 2027." said Knox.
Knox on the Jets:
"Fourth-round rookie Cade Klubnik was worth a dart throw based on the flashes he showed at Clemson. However, he won't prevent New York from drafting a quarterback early in 2027. And the Jets appear likely to draft a quarterback early next April, even if they win more games than expected this season. New York also owns first-round picks from the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys (more favorable of Dallas' and Green Bay's selections)." said Knox.
From Bills fans’ perspectives, the Jets and Dolphins have been laughing stocks of the division for a long time. While they have given Buffalo a scare once or twice at some point, they have never been serious contenders in recent memory or even in this century alone.
Both teams have gone through a lot of roster and coaching changes over the years. The Jets are currently trying to get the Aaron Glenn experiment right after a disastrous first year. Now the Dolphins have a rookie head coach in Jeff Hafley and they didn’t make any major impactful moves this offseason.
While the Bills will be competing for the AFC East and the Super Bowl in 2026, both the Jets and Dolphins will most likely be at or near the bottom of the entire league by the time Week 18 finishes up.
