Earlier this week, Buffalo Bills’ star cornerback Christian Benford popped up on the injury report with a reported toe injury on Thursday. He wasn’t on the report on Wednesday, so it caused a whole lot of concern for Bills fans.

Then Benford didn't practice on Friday, and then the Bills had elevated cornerback Dane Jackson yesterday from the practice squad. Signs weren't looking so great for Benford's availability.

Now, it’s official. According to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Benford is officially out for the Bills. Looks like Bills fans will see a lot of Maxwell Hairston and Tre’Davious White to go along with their rotation that they like to use.

CB Christian Benford ruled out for Week 15

In addition to Benford, the Bills will be going without Terrel Bernard as well. However, Shaq Thompson has been a great replacement for Bernard in the middle of the defense. Other inactives include Gabe Davis and Darnell Savage, per the Bills' PR team. However, Benford's absence is the biggest factor that stands out.

Benford has put together a great November/early December performance for this Buffalo defense. He’s had two defensive touchdowns in Buffalo’s last two games as well as a sack. Now the Bills will be without his services going up against a Patriots’ receiving core that had their way with Buffalo in Week 5.

This is a huge game for the Bills. Not just to stay in the playoff picture in the AFC, but to also try and keep the division away from the New England Patriots. If the Patriots win this game, they win the division. If Buffalo wins it, then we have a true division race in the AFC East for the rest of the month.

Kickoff from Gillette Stadium is at 1PM and no matter who you are a fan of, you should tune into this highly anticipated division battle out in Foxborough.
