Sometimes the only thing that is better than watching your favorite team succeed, is seeing their rivals fall apart. This has happened in recent memory within the AFC East. While the Buffalo Bills have built up their franchise into one of the best in the NFL, the same can’t be said for the rest of their division.

Up until this past offseason, the Patriots were a laughingstock once Tom Brady left in 2020. The Dolphins have done all that they can to try and take down the Bills but they also struggle once the weather gets colder. Then there are the Jets, who are looking to turn things around with their new regime but it’s going to take a long time.

The Jets have become a team that just simply can’t get the quarterback position right no matter how hard they try. Whether they draft one or trade for one, nothing has worked out in their favor.

Going into the 2025 season, they have Justin Fields who is coming off a couple of solid starts with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. However, Fields hasn’t shown that he can be a special quarterback in this league and if he starts to struggle with the Jets, it will just put him in yet another bad position.

Latest trade projection has Jets cause even more organization dysfunction

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report recently made a list of bold trade predictions for this coming season’s trade deadline and Gagnon has the Jets trading for Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins and his really expensive contract. If this trade were to come true, Bills fans could only laugh at the continued dysfunction that the Jets have. Here's a bit on what Gagnon said about this bold prediction:

"Since it's impossible to speculate on injuries, though, let's instead throw out a Jets team that has a considerable amount of salary-cap space and could well give up on Justin Fields by November. The Jets also employ senior football advisor Rick Spielman, who is connected to Cousins from their shared time in Minnesota. "

Trading for a 36 year old (turning 37 in August) quarterback with a ridiculous contract that the Falcons shouldn’t have given him in the first place would be a huge reach for the Jets. Not only would it screw up any chance of them developing Fields into a potential franchise quarterback, but Cousins is not the player he once was in Washington and Minnesota.

If the Jets were to pull off this move, it would be absolutely hilarious for Bills fans as they would have the chance to keep laughing at the Jets’ questionable decision-making abilities that has made them a bad franchise overall.
