The NFL trade deadline has officially passed by and the Buffalo Bills stayed quiet and did not make a single move to try and improve their roster. Despite fans looking for the Bills to make a move to either improve the defense or bring in a wide receiver for Josh Allen, the Bills are now rolling with what they have.
The Bills were reported to have been a team that checked in on wide receiver Jakobi Meyers per Dianna Russini, who eventually was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Then according to Tim Graham, there may have been a bit of talks between the Bills and Washington Commanders surrounding Deebo Samuel and/or former Bill, Von Miller.
Dianna Russini then reported that AFC East teams had called the Jets about potential deals, but the Jets were “reluctant” to trade within the division, which makes total sense. However, you can’t blame teams for calling the Jets as they traded away both Sauce Gardner to the Colts, and Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys.
However, the Bills are rolling with who they have and quite frankly, it doesn't feel like enough.
Bills miss out on adding more talent to roster at trade deadline
While the Bills will always be contenders as long as Josh Allen is under center, the Bills missed out on a great chance to add some more talent to either give Allen another weapon, or potentially improve the defense that has been baffled with injuries this entire season.
Fans have to be very angry at the lack of aggressiveness at the trade deadline by the Bills. They’ve had no issue making trades in the past, so what was the difference this year? The team has shown to have major flaws and injuries have piled up. It is very hard to believe that Brandon Beane has a great reason to stand still while others improved their rosters across the league.
Not to mention, the Bills restructured Taron Johnson’s contract to open up an additional $1.75 million per Field Yates, to give the Bills over $3 million in cap space. So, what was the point of doing that now?
Typically, Brandon Beane and his staff deliver results to help improve this roster but this is inexcusable by them. This team needed more and the front office failed them. Buffalo will now put their full attention towards the Miami Dolphins this week as they travel down to south beach.
