Over the last half decade, the Buffalo Bills have established themselves as one of the few powerhouse teams in the NFL. Led by the MVP in Josh Allen and the continuity in the front office, the Bills aren’t going anywhere as Super Bowl contenders. The thing is, they still have yet to reach the biggest game of the season.

It’s unfortunate that the Bills have one of the best quarterbacks that they will ever have in their franchise history, but that they have to deal with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. If Mahomes was not in the league or maybe in the NFC, then the Bills would more than likely have multiple Super Bowl appearances and maybe even a trophy or two.

Instead, Bills fans have had to witness heart break year after year after year. Four of the last five postseasons have resulted in the Bills being forced to watch the Chiefs celebrate in victory. The other time was when the Bills were destroyed by Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Last season, the Bills lost by just three points to the Chiefs in Arrowhead and it was the most devastating loss in recent memory just because of the fact that no one expected the Bills to be one of the final four teams remaining. The 2025 season has a lot on the line for the Bills and it’s a harsh reality that fans have to realize.

Bills have a lot on the line for 2025 season

Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone recently ranked the Bills as the No. 2 overall team that has the most pressure on them going into this season. The only team ahead of them with the most pressure is the Baltimore Ravens. Here’s what Scataglia said about the Bills heading into this season:

"Josh Allen won the MVP in the 2024 NFL Season, but the Buffalo Bills again fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the conference championship game. It's been that type of postseason experience for Buffalo. They have been to two AFC Championship Games since 2020 and are always reliable in the playoffs until they meet Kansas City. With how dominant Buffalo has been for a half-decade now, the pressure has not been higher for this team to perform and make a Super Bowl run."

Buffalo’s championship window has never been more open than it is now. Kansas City took a step backward in the offseason and were not their usual dominant selves. Cincinnati looks fantastic on offense, but their defense is absolutely horrendous and they have major contract distractions with multiple players. Baltimore always crumbles when the pressure is on in the playoffs and the Bills have beaten them twice in 2021.

Meanwhile, the Bills didn’t lose any major players and they signed extra help to help put them over the top. With Josh Allen having a brand new contract and coming off winning his first MVP award, he is looking to accomplish more than just another division title. The time is now or never for the Bills going into this season.
