The Buffalo Bills are already one of the top contenders to win the Super Bowl in the 2025 season, but why not add one more big-time piece to the roster? If there's one area on the Buffalo roster that could use a true star player, it's the wide receiver position offensively, and it just so happens that Terry McLaurin could be available for the right price.

The latest curveball that's been thrown in McLaurin's contract situation with the Washington Commanders is that McLaurin is fed up to the point of just wanting out completely.

The Bills have not been able to get past the Kansas City Chiefs when it matters most. They've been a good team for the last seven going on eight years, a great team in many respects, but they haven't been a championship team. Making a bold move for someone like McLaurin is the type of move that could get them there.

Buffalo Bills should be calling Commanders to trade for Terry McLaurin

Buffalo's current wide receiver group is solid, but is it the type of group that is going to do damage in the postseason? Who is the true go-to threat in the offense?

There was some benefit to not having a player like Stefon Diggs around in the fact that Josh Allen didn't seem to be committed to getting the ball to one specific player the majority of the time. He had to spread the ball around more last season, almost by force, and it benefitted everyone.

But having a go-to threat like Terry McLaurin is massive for an offense, as we saw last year in the rapid ascent of the Washington Commanders. McLaurin is one of the league's best playmakers at every level of the field, but he's got some of the best ball tracking ability and strongest hands in the league.

Adding McLaurin to the mix would simply help the Buffalo Bills offense feel more "complete" at this point in time. Right now, they're hoping for breakouts from guys like Josh Palmer, a veteran free agent, or Elijah Moore, another dart throw in free agency. They are hoping for progression from Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir.

There's only so far hope can get you.

The Bills under Brandon Beane have done well investing their NFL Draft capital in mostly the right guys, but a late-first-round pick on a player like Terry McLaurin is an extremely worthwhile investment given where this team is at.

And because of the fact that McLaurin is going to be 30 years old this season, they could pay him on a short-term deal and have him around for some of the best years of his career without being tied down too much contractually in the future.

This curveball from McLaurin requesting a trade is the perfect opportunity for the Buffalo Bills to strike, and take claim of the AFC in the process.
