The Buffalo Bills easily have one of the toughest schedules in 2026. That means needing to make the most of those games they should probably have. It also means facing a plethora of high-end talent, making the “off” days few and far between.

When it comes to running backs they face this season, the Bills run defense will be tested. Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions. Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens. Kyren Williams, De’Von Achane, Breece Hall, and Trey’Veon Henderson are just a few. But it begs the question: “Who are the worst running backs the Bills will face this season?” Let’s get into it.

Ranking the 4 worst running backs the Bills will face in 2026

4.) J.K. Dobbins – Denver Broncos

The Broncos addressed another area of concern by acquiring former Miami Dolphin, Jaylen Waddle, to give them an elite pass-catcher. When it comes to running back, they are going to stick with a committee led by the veteran J.K. Dobbins.

It’s not that Dobbins is bad, per se, it’s just that he can’t stay healthy. The 10 games he played in 2025 were the second-most since his rookie season in 2020.

3.) Omarion Hampton – Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers took Omarion Hampton with the 22nd overall pick in 2025 to give them a dynamic threat at running back. At times, they got just that. But for most of his rookie season, Hampton battled injuries that kept him off the field.

Hampton managed just 545 yards across nine games. Hampton still has a ton of potential, and a healthy season could see him shoot up the list of AFC running backs quickly. But for now, he’s the unproven player in this Chargers offense.

2.) David Montgomery/Woody Marks – Houston Texans

These two go together because they will undoubtedly split carries in a fairly even manner. Marks was a nice surprise story last season, rushing for 703 yards and taking over the starting job by year’s end. His 3.6 yards per carry illustrates a grinding style that doesn’t really garner big gains.

The Texans brought in Montgomery, the Thunder to Gibbs’ Lightning in Detroit. Montgomery has scored a lot in recent years, but one has to wonder if the 29-year-old can do it without an elite partner like Gibbs.

1.) Aaron Jones – Minnesota Vikings

Things seem to be trending downward in a concerning way for the Vikings. Quarterback appears to be the biggest mystery, but running back may wind up being the worst position on offense and Aaron Jones is “the guy” in this group for now.

The 31-year-old is coming off his worst season as a full-time starter, racking up just 548 yards in 12 games to go along with two touchdowns. His yards per game, yards per attempt, and attempts per game were among the lowest of his career. This will likely be the year Jones gives way to someone younger and contemplates the future of his career.

The Bills have the rushing advantage in most games

The simple fact is that the Bills will have the advantage in the ground game in most of their matchups. Even if you remove the rushing threat that is Josh Allen, the Bills still have the reigning NFL rushing king and one of the best offensive lines in the league. That should give them the leg up even against some very good opposing running backs.
