While we can make a heavy argument that Josh Allen is the best quarterback in the league without it being close, we can’t say the same about the Bills overall. Coming off a great Week 1 comeback win against the Ravens, the Bills saw greatness from Allen while also seeing a major weakness that has to be fixed.

Giving up 40 points at home in the season opener is not a good look, especially for a defensive-minded coach. Sean McDermott and Bobby Babich have a lot of work to do to prepare for their upcoming game against the New York Jets.

On the other hand, the Bills did get the win but it was only because Josh Allen put on the superhero cape in the 4th quarter to make it happen. Overall, the Bills did not play complimentary football up until it mattered the most. While they found a way to make it work late, it should have never come down to a game winning field goal.

BIlls defense keeps Buffalo from claiming top spot in power rankings

Pete Prisco from CBS Sports recently power ranked all 32 teams after their Week 1 performances, and even though we saw yet another greatness-like performance from Josh Allen and the offense, the Bills’ defense has kept them away from the top spot. Prisco has the Bills ranked No. 2 in his power rankings behind the Philadelphia Eagles.

Here’s a bit on what Prisco said about the Bills:

"They rallied to beat the Ravens, but the defense has to be better. The run defense has been an issue for a long time -- and it needs to be fixed."
Pete Prisco, CBS Sports

I get it, the Ravens have a powerful offense that is led by Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. But Buffalo has to do a lot better at adjusting throughout the game. That was the main issue, they didn’t and it almost cost them a win against a team that they needed to have a playoff seeding advantage over.

Until Buffalo makes either the adjustments or adds help, fans may have to watch the offense have to carry the team to wins throughout this season.
