The Buffalo Bills are preparing for their second primetime matchup of the year, and it will be their first one this season. After being at home the last three weeks, the Bills are heading out to Los Angeles to take on Sean McVay and the Rams.
Buffalo is coming in at 3-1 while the Rams are looking to get above .500 for the first time this season. Even though the Bills have the better record, the Bills' first four opponents have a combined record of 4-12. That's not super impressive, and now they are taking on a Rams offense that could have a fun day against this Buffalo defense.
Bills' defense has already been biggest liability (and Thursday's injury report doesn't help)
Buffalo is allowing opponents to gain 256 passing yards and 116 rushing yards per game through the first four games, This unit has been a huge problem in three out of the Bills' four games. Now, they are dealing with a good amount of injuries heading into Week 5.
The Bills' first injury report for Week 5 came out yesterday from the Bills' PR X account, and it shows one common theme: the defense is looking extremely rough.
Out of the 14 players that appeared on the injury report, 10 of them were on the defense. Luckily, a majority of them were full participants, but there were 2 that did not practice (Dee Alford & Ed Oliver) and 2 that were limited (Christian Benford & Landon Jackson).
The other DNP was wideout DJ Moore, who is still dealing with a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 2 against the Lions.
Bills' defense needs all the help they can get going into Week 5
Buffalo’s defense continues to be a problem through four games. The fact that they let Drake Maye walk into their own stadium, play like an MVP candidate, and put up 29 points, the Bills’ defense could be in for a very rude awakening against the Rams.
Even though the Rams haven't been the same team that we know that they have been, they have a potentially perfect setup against a Bills defense that is going through growing pains, and now have a good amount of injuries that they are dealing with.
The Bills will have an extra day of preparation and rest before they take the field against the Rams, and it would be a shame to not be at or near 100% health in the unit that needs it the most.
