The Buffalo Bills beat the New Orleans Saints and move to 4-0 on the season, but the defense is still clearly the primary issue. At the end of the day, very rarely does an NFL team have a win where nothing goes wrong.
There is simply too much parity in this league for that to happen, and with 53 men on an active roster, there are bound to be positional weaknesses. Through four games, the Bills are 4-0 and have taken are of business each week thus far. Reigning MVP Josh Allen has been great this year, and the offense is working well.
However, the team's defense is absolutely still the team's Achilles heel. Through four weeks, Buffalo has to figure out how to get this unit sorted out...
Buffalo's Week 4 win does not feel good from top to bottom
The New Orleans Saints put up 19 points in the loss, and while they didn't hit the 20-point mark, the Saints did gain 299 yards on offense. They also rushed for a whopping 189 yards and had a respectable 4.6 yards per play. New Orleans was a solid 5/13 on third down and had 23 first downs total.
The Saints ran 65 total plays as well. Second-year QB Spencer Rattler went 17/26 for 111 yards and one touchdown. If the Bills want to put a stamp on this AFC in the 2025 NFL Season, the defense has to get figured out. We all know just how good the offense can be, but Buffalo will again fail to make a Super Bowl run if the team is struggling to stop the New Orleans Saints at home.
It is a long season, and the Bills do have some 'easy' opponents on their schedule, so perhaps as time goes on, the unit will come into its own and enter the postseason in a solid spot.
