The wide receiver position for the Buffalo Bills was the weakest link on the offense by a mile. After failing to acquire more help at the position at the trade deadline, general manager Brandon Beane took on a bunch of heat from fans and the media. After the deadline, the Bills made two acquisitions at wide receiver; Mecole Hardman Jr. and Brandin Cooks.

Hardman’s impact was close to nonexistent. When it came to Cooks, he showed a little bit of help to the room but his impact wasn’t much either. Then again, he only played in five regular season games so it’s never easy to learn on the fly. However, he did manage to have some impressive catches that caught the attention of Bills Mafia.

His biggest play that he made took place in the Wild Card round against the Jacksonville Jaguars when he caught a long pass from Josh Allen to put the Bills in scoring position late in the 4th quarter.

However, Cooks’ time in Buffalo right now is only known for being part of the controversial interception call against the Denver Broncos, where it appeared that he had come down with the ball in overtime for a catch, but it somehow turned into an interception by Ja’Quan McMillian that eventually led to Denver winning in overtime.

While that is what Cooks is mainly known for during his time with the Bills last season, it appears that he doesn’t want that to be the last memory with the team.

Brandin Cooks makes it clear that he wants to return to Bills

Tim Graham from The Athletic recently wrote about Cooks and that play that took place in Denver, but then Graham also wrote that Cooks is looking to return to the Bills for the 2026 season. Here is a bit on what Graham wrote about Cooks and a potential return to the Bills:

"Cooks turns 33 in September and craves that unfound glory. He wants to return to the Bills, and the interest apparently is mutual. Bills football boss Brandon Beane said in March the team had stayed in contact with Cooks’ camp, and Cooks said he talked with new head coach Joe Brady recently." said Graham.

Graham then added how Cook's agent, Ryan Tollner, said that there is interest for Cooks but that Cooks wants to go back to Buffalo:

"Tollner said plenty of contenders have extended offers, that an exciting choice will be made, but Cooks has emphasized his wish for one team in particular. Cooks is done rewinding that replay, but he wants to run it back with Buffalo." Graham added.

If the Bills were to bring Cooks back, it would give him a full season with the team and he could make more of an impact in Joe Brady’s offense. The good news is that he already knows the building and the culture, as well as the type of offense that Brady runs. However, training camp is right around the corner so if the Bills do indeed want Cooks back, now is the time to get him signed.
