The Buffalo Bills are a championship-caliber team. After a dominant start to the season, there's no questioning their status as a contender. Josh Allen has carried his MVP-level play into 2025 and has his offense rolling through opponents, and Joey Bosa's resurgence has given Buffalo a truly dangerous defensive front.
But the roster isn't without blemishes. There are weaknesses in the Bills' defense, especially in the secondary. Even after their offseason additions, Buffalo could still use help at cornerback.
The perfect trade target may be staring them right in the face. Over the past few weeks, rumors have been spreading that the Seattle Seahawks could be willing to part ways with Riq Woolen. The former Pro Bowler started his career off hot but has since struggled to find consistency. Buffalo could be the perfect place for a fresh start.
Bills could pull off a trade for cornerback Riq Woolen
As Bills fans know all too well, you can never have too much depth on defense. Tre'Davious White and Christian Benford are doing a passable job of holding the outside cornerback spots down, but an injury to either one could derail the season. Even when rookie Maxwell Hairston returns from his knee injury, he won't be expected to immediately step into a major role. Buffalo could benefit in a big way from adding one more capable player to the cornerback room.
Woolen has had an up-and-down career, to say the least. The former fifth-round pick took the league by storm in his rookie season, tying for the league lead in interceptions with six. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to match that level of play over the last three years. He’s currently recovering from a concussion, but he’s been a liability this season when healthy.
The cornerback's inconsistent play has landed him on NFL Spin Zone's trade block. Sayre Bedinger wrote, "There have been some rumors swirling about Tariq Woolen possibly being traded by the Seahawks, so we're just going to throw him on the list in case anything materializes. It would be a bit of a shocker to see a player with his history of ball production be moved, especially at his age, but you never know in the NFL."
Whether the Seahawks are openly shopping the young cornerback or not, the Bills should be picking up the phone. Woolen has had his fair share of mistakes, but his elite size and athleticism make him an intriguing prospect moving forward. If the price is right, general manager Brandon Beane shouldn't hesitate to make the move.
