One of the biggest strengths that the Buffalo Bills have is their protection in the trenches from their offensive line. You could easily make the case that they have one of the better tackle duos in Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown. Dawkins is a solid pass protector, and is also a good run blocker. As for Brown, he is a phenomenal run-blocker and has vastly improved his pass blocking abilities.
While they are some of the better overall tackles in the game, there is a great chance that they could struggle against some of the best edge rushers this season. They will take on some of the top talent coming off the edge, such as Aidan Hutchinson, Will Anderson Jr., and of course Myles Garrett. There is also another edge rusher that they will face that is on the rise as one of the better ones in the NFL.
Ascending edge rusher could give Bills problems in 2026
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report recently created a list of the seven edge rushers who could be very close to having a breakout season in 2026, one of them being Dallas Turner of the Minnesota Vikings who the Bills will play in Week 9 on Monday Night Football.
"Defensive coordinator Brian Flores may be on the verge of turning Dallas Turner into a star. As a rookie, Turner played in a backup role behind Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel, who both earned Pro Bowl nods with double-digit sack numbers that year." said Moton.
"Minnesota traded Greenard to the Philadelphia Eagles, and Ginkel is entering his age-31 campaign. Heading into his third term, Turner will enter the 2026 season as a full-time starter coming off a momentous year." Moton added.
Heading into this third year with the Vikings, Turner now gets the chance to show why the Vikings drafted him in the first round in 2023. Quite frankly, he was the top defensive prospect coming out of the draft that year and it’s been surprising that he hasn’t made an impact already. However, even as part of a rotation last year, Turner still managed to rack up 8 sacks, 66 total tackles, and had 3 pass deflections.
With having Brian Flores as his defensive coordinator, Turner will be expected to rush the passer a lot which could be overwhelming for Josh Allen and the offense. While Turner isn’t on the same level as someone like a Will Anderson Jr., he definitely has the talent and upside to be one of the best edge rushers in the game sooner than later. The Bills will have to bring their A-game when they head to Minnesota to take on that ferocious defense.
