There’s no way that we can already be thinking about next year’s NFL draft, right? Well, guess again. While NFL coaches, players, and fans are thinking about this coming season, front offices are always looking towards the future and figuring out what positions they will need to address (both short-term and long-term).
The good news for Brandon Beane is that since the Bills did a lot of work on defense this past offseason, next year’s offseason (both free agency and draft) might be more balanced on both sides of the ball, or maybe more focused on the offense. The biggest question right now for the future beyond 2025 is running back since there is no clear indication on whether or not James Cook will be back with the Bills.
Buffalo added some playmakers on the outside for Josh Allen which includes Joshua Palmer, Laviska Shenault, Elijah Moore, and Kaden Prather. However, Palmer is the only one right now that is expected to be in Buffalo beyond the 2025 season. Along with Palmer, the Bills also have second-year receiver in Keon Coleman, and Khalil Shakir who signed a four-year extension this past offseason. Let’s not forget about Curtis Samuel as well, who was battling injuries last season.
So, you would maybe think that the Bills would think a little bit about the wide receiver position for next year, but not a whole lot, correct? Well, Sayre Bedinger from NFL Spin Zone doesn’t exactly think that as in Bedinger’s latest 2026 NFL mock draft, the Bills acquire a wide receiver in Jordyn Tyson from Arizona State.

Now obviously, we are many months away from next year’s NFL Draft which is set to take place in Pittsburgh so anything can happen from now until then. At the same time, the Bills’ last need that they need to address with a first round pick is wide receiver. Maybe they will go out into next year’s free agency frenzy and bring in another receiver or two, but they don’t need any for-sure starters as it looks like they will have them already.
While Tyson is a solid player and is coming off a strong 2024 season with the Sun Devils, even if he has a repeat of great production this coming season, Buffalo doesn’t need to waste a first-round pick on a wide receiver. They are better off drafting a linebacker, or maybe even a running back depending on their running back room going into the draft.
