The Buffalo Bills remain on top of the AFC East by two games going into Week 4 after handing the Los Angeles Chargers their third consecutive loss of the season, beating them 24-16. Believe it or not, the score in the 4th quarter at one point was 13-10 with the Chargers leading.
Despite the Chargers' defense playing out of their mind, Buffalo's defense responded well against Justin Herbert and his offense. LA's defense forced five turnovers which was an ultimate nightmare for Buffalo's offense. However, the Chargers only scored 10 points off of those turnovers.
Bills' defense showed up when it mattered the most
James Cook's fumble on the very first play of the game was an immediate gut punch to the Bills, and the Chargers managed to take advantage of that and get onto the scoreboard early on. Then Josh Allen threw his first of his two interceptions, which resulted in a field goal to give the Chargers a 10-0 lead.
The Bills turned the ball over three more times, but didn't allow the Chargers to score off of those which is completely unbelievable to think about. Infact, ESPN's Nick Suss, who covers the Buffalo Bills, pointed out a statistic that gives us a better image on what this game says about Buffalo's defense.
According to Suss, since 2010, NFL teams have allowed an average of 32.7 points per game when they turn the ball over atleast five times. Obviously, the Chargers didn't score that many points, but only scoring 16 total points. Per Suss, it's the fourth-fewest points allowed in a game where there were 5+ turnovers.

Bills' Week 3 win all came down to defense stepping up
In the Josh Allen era, we have seen numerous amount of games where the Bills won because of what Allen was able to do on the offense. It got to a point where the Bills became so dependent on Allen to carry them to victory, and that clearly isn't sustainable.
Now in this game, Allen played a role in the Bills almost losing this game. It was Buffalo's defense that stepped up big time to help the Bills advance to 3-0 on the season. The biggest play came in the 4th quarter when C.J. Gardner-Johnson came up with an interception that eventually helped Buffalo take the lead in the 4th quarter for the first time in the game.
This game has so many takeaway for both teams. For Buffalo, the way that their defense performed should be the biggest headline because they finally showed fans that if Allen and the offense are struggling, then the defense is able to pick up the mess themselves.
