The 2025 NFL season has come to an end and the Super Bowl is heading to the Pacific Northwest after the Seattle Seahawks completely destroyed the New England Patriots, winning 29-13. This Seattle defense was just too much to handle from start to finish for Drake Maye and the Patriots. The Buffalo Bills can sit back and enjoy the fact that the Patriots won't be adding another Lombardi Trophy to their trophy case.
The Seahawks have been the better overall team and it showed once again in this game. However, most of their success came from the defense who didn’t allow a touchdown until the 4th quarter, even though Seattle was already up 19-0 before New England got on the board.
Even though the Bills and their fans can laugh at this embarrassing performance by the Patriots, there should also be a great sense of disappointment knowing that this game would have been more of an offensive battle if Buffalo was representing the AFC in this game.
Patriots' Super Bowl performance proves Bills would have been the better AFC option
New England’s offense at one point only had just over 50 total yards nearing the end of the first half. Drake Maye was under constant pressure and the rushing attack couldn’t get anything going either. Now granted, this Seahawks defense was nearly unstoppable, but you would think that the Pats would have figured something out to stay in this game.
Bills fans’ biggest takeaway from this game should be the fact that Buffalo would have been the better AFC opponent to Seattle. However, the Bills once again crumbled in the playoffs and had to watch yet another AFC rival represent in the Super Bowl.
For the second consecutive Super Bowl, the Bills had to watch two conference opponents, who were not better than them, play for the Lombardi Trophy.
Fans are hoping that it is a matter of when, and not if Allen and the Bills can reach the Super Bowl. They have made it to two conference championship games, but lost both to the Kansas City Chiefs. They didn’t even have to worry about them this past postseason as the Chiefs weren’t in it.
Instead, Bo Nix and the Broncos ended Buffalo’s season and ended Sean McDermott’s tenure as the head coach of the Bills.
With this season now officially over, the Bills will be looking to attack the offseason aggressively and do whatever it takes to deliver the high expectations that are set in Joe Brady’s first season as the team’s new head coach.
