The Buffalo Bills got the week off, but they'll have to hit the ground running coming out of the bye week. The Baltimore Ravens have been disappointing this season, but if Lamar Jackson returns, they're as tough as any team in the AFC.
Anything short of a Super Bowl win this season would be a major disappointment for the Bills. While the offense has been borderline unstoppable this season, the defense is among the worst in the NFL. They can't stop anybody, especially against the pass.
It's going to be difficult to fix the defense in the middle of the season, but there's one player they could trade who would make a big difference.
Maxx Crosby named as trade fit for Bills
The Las Vegas Raiders agreed to trade Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in the offseason for two first-round picks, but that deal fell apart at the last minute. The Raiders decided to keep Crosby, but this season hasn't been going well.
After a 3-0 start, the Raiders have lost four in a row, and Crosby hasn't been making a big impact. He has just 2 sacks on the season. The problem for him is that he just doesn't have help on the defensive line.
The Bills have Greg Rousseau, who has 6.0 sacks this season. Pairing him with Crosby could free both players up to have an even bigger impact. CBS Sports' Jordan Dajani made a list of teams that would be a fit for Crosby, and he believes the Bills are among the best.
"Let's get a little wild. The Bills made it clear they were "Super Bowl or bust" when they fired Sean McDermott last year, but this Jim Leonhard defense needs some work. Buffalo has won four games this year, and all four victories came in matchups where the Bills allowed 30+ points! The rest of the NFL was 8-42 through Week 6 in games where defenses allowed at least 30 points. The Bills ranked first in points per drive (3.13) and last in points per drive allowed (2.76) after Week 6." said Dajani.
The Bills won't want to give up two first-round picks, but the price has likely gone down. The Raiders aren't any good, and Crosby hasn't had the best season. If he were playing like an All-Pro, the Raiders likely could've gotten two first-round picks for him, but it's not going to happen now.
It will certainly take at least one first-round pick and change, but that should be worth it to the Bills. Buffalo has the second-worst pass defense in the NFL right now. A good way to fix that is to have an elite pass rushing duo. It remains to be seen if the Raiders want to trade Crosby, but if they're open to it, the Bills need to be on the phone.
