This NFL offseason has been one of the wildest ones that we have seen in quite some time. Teams gave players contracts that were extremely questionable. There were a great amount of head coaching changes. Finally, there were a great amount of blockbuster trades that happened (and didn’t happen at the last minute).

The Buffalo Bills underwent a head coaching change from Sean McDermott to Joe Brady, brought in a new coaching staff, and revamped the roster through free agency and the NFL Draft. Even though the Bills have been a true contender since 2020, it was time for changes to happen since the team wasn’t going farther than they already had reached.

One part of their major switch was on defense, going from a 4-2-5 under McDermott, to now a 3-4 defense under Jim Leonhard. With this change going into effect, the Bills needed to bring in players who would be a great fit for the defense. One of those players that was brought in that should be a great addition is Bradley Chubb, who spent the last few seasons in the AFC East with the Miami Dolphins.

The biggest knock on Chubb at this point is whether or not he can be available as he has a history of injuries. For as dominant as he has been, he has missed a lot of time throughout his career. His last big injury occurred late in 2023 when he tore his ACL late in the season, causing him to miss the entire 2024 season. Nonetheless, Chubb has 19.5 sacks when you combine his 2023 and 2025 seasons.

Bradley Chubb signing gets no praise on latest NFL offseason list (and it's wrong)

Moe Moton from Bleacher Report created a rankings list of the 25 best offseason moves, separated into five different categories that talks about value acquisitions, veterans going to playoff contenders, rookies who are set to make an immediate impact, coaching and players that are set to boost offenses, and franchise changing moves.

The Bills made plenty of additions that should get recognized, including the signing of Chubb and trade for DJ Moore. While the acquisition of Moore should be the biggest overall move that the Bills made, the signing of Chubb was Buffalo’s most dynamic considering the player that Chubb is and what Buffalo needs from a pass-rush point of view.

Chubb was brought to Buffalo to create a pass rush that the Bills haven’t truly had on a consistent basis for many seasons now. They have gone through edge rushers like Von Miller and Joey Bosa, both whom had flashes but they didn’t end their tenure with the team on the best note for various reasons.

The hope is that Chubb can do what Miller and Bosa couldn’t do, which is provide a pass rush in crucial situations when the game is on the line. The signing of Chubb could easily have been placed in the tier that focuses on the veterans joining playoff contender.

With Miami going into a major rebuild, Chubb avoids that situation and joined an instant contender in Buffalo and will look to be the difference-maker for this defense.
