With NFL free agency buzz dying down a bit, you are starting to see a lot more of the nitty gritty details come out regarding new contracts. For the Buffalo Bills, one contract stands out above the rest.
The Bills' recent acquisition of wide receiver D.J. Moore, of course, gives quarterback Josh Allen a legitimate weapon at the position; something the offense has desperately needed. And, after trading for the former Chicago Bears wideout, the Bills have now made a move in regards to his contract.
As teams often do, the Bills have converted a portion of Moore's salary into a signing bonus. In this case, that number is a whopping $22.185 million. In making this conversion, the Bills opened up a significant amount of cap space ($17.7 million to be exact).
After this decision, the Bills are now hovering around $11 million under the cap, which isn't much, but there is still potential to do a lot more.
The Buffalo Bills can use D.J. Moore's contract restructure as a launching point for something more
Make no mistake about it. This offseason is far from over. The Bills are still a team that could use another big move, whether it's on offense or defense. Both sides are fair game.
With some additional restructures or extensions, the Bills could still make their way well over $30 million in cap space, if not more. The cap is always able to be manipulated. We've learned that by now.
The question is, where do the Bills turn their attention to now? Do they go for the jugular and entertain an A.J. Brown trade? Just picturing both Brown and Moore as weapons for Allen is a thing of beauty.
Would Buffalo still try and make a deal for defensive end Maxx Crosby happen? Although there seems to be a rekindling between Crosby and the Las Vegas Raiders, nothing is set in stone. We aren't quite sure what exactly is going on with that situation, but it very well could be far from over.
The Minnesota Vikings want to try and unload Jonathan Greenard's contract, as well, and if the Bills can't get in on Crosby, Greenard would be a strong consolation prize. The defense could use a prolific pass rusher, whether it's added via trade or the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.
Bills fans know this feeling well. The team has felt so close to reaching a Super Bowl. This might be the offseason where Brandon Beane finally goes all in with a couple of bold moves. Are we done seeing Buffalo getting in on the trade action?
