The Buffalo Bills are entering tonight’s draft event with two second-round picks (No. 56 & No. 62). As of right now, they don’t have a third round selection, but maybe Brandon Beane trades back to acquire one as well as additional picks. However, until we see the breaking news notification, the Bills are set to pick twice in the second round.
The second round kicks off tonight live at 7PM where the Cleveland Browns are set to be on the clock, so once again, it could be awhile before the Bills get to make a pick (if they don't trade up).
Maxwell Hairston was a solid first round pick for the Bills as he will come to Buffalo to help solidify the secondary. Will Buffalo continue to add to their defense? NFL Spin Zone’s Sayre Bedinger seems to think so in a recent Round 2 & 3 NFL mock draft heading into the second round.
Latest NFL mock draft has Bills adding more to defense, including a national champion
Round 2, No. 56: S Xavier Watts, Notre Dame
"We already saw the Buffalo Bills go after a cornerback in round one to upgrade a secondary that needed a makeover, and I would not be shocked if they double up there or go after the best safety on their board here."Sayre Bedinger, NFL Spin Zone
In Bedinger’s Day 2 mock draft, the Bills add yet another secondary player with safety Xavier Watts out of Notre Dame. Even though Buffalo doesn’t have a pressing need for safety (with having Cole Bishop and Taylor Rapp as the presumed starters), Watts is such a dynamic players who has a lot of versatility.
He snagged 13 interceptions over the last two seasons, along with 13 pass breakups. Watts was also a tackling machine in 2024 (83 total tackles). Getting him at No. 56 would not only be a fantastic addition for the Bills, but it could put a lot of pressure on guys like Damar Hamlin and Darrick Forrest, both who are only one one-year deals with the Bills.
Round 2, No. 62: DE Jack Sawyer, Ohio State
"The Buffalo Bills need to get more guys who can cause havoc off the edge, and Jack Sawyer will not only be a great player for this locker room but he can be a “bat out of hell” as a pass rusher. "Sayre Bedinger, NFL Spin Zone
Much like Xavier Watts helping out the secondary in a big way, you could say the same thing about Jack Sawyer with the edge rusher room. The Bills have heavily struggled to produce a consistent pass rush. It’s the main reason why they are getting knocked out of the playoffs. The good news for the Bills is that if they have the chance to draft Sawyer, they don’t need him to be a Day 1 starter.
Buffalo has Greg Rousseau on a long-term deal and they brought in Joey Bosa on a one-year deal. Sawyer’s game is very similar to Bosa. Now you add him in the same to learn from him and Buffalo can set themselves up for a long-term edge rusher duo of Rousseau and Sawyer after 2025.
