Keon Coleman is entering a crucial year this season for the Buffalo Bills, and he will be doing it in a new-look team that went through a lot of changes. When Coleman was drafted in 2024, he entered a situation where he was looked at as the replacement for Stefon Diggs. While he did show early flashes of promise in 2024 (125 yards vs. Titans in Week 7), a wrist injury he suffered limited his production.
Then after a breakout Week 1 performance last season against the Baltimore Ravens (8 receptions, 112 yards, 1 touchdown), Coleman failed to reach 50 receiving yards in a game and was listed as a healthy scratch in multiple games due to maturity issues that included him being late for meetings.
Once the Bills had fired Sean McDermott in January, Terry Pegula made some comments about Coleman during a press conference (as the topic of Coleman came up), and it seemed like Coleman's future in Buffalo was close to being done. However, new head coach Joe Brady has showed his public support for Coleman this offseason.

It's no secret that Coleman hasn't lived up to expectations these last two years, and now it feels like this could be his last shot in Buffalo to make a great impression amongst fans. He did get a huge break with Brady being picked as the team's new head coach, who has been working with Coleman the last two seasons.
However, we know that the NFL has all kinds of things happen both in and out of season. One thing that could always happen is a trade, and if Coleman doesn't impress early on leading up to the trade deadline, there could always be a world where Coleman is traded out of Buffalo.
Mock trade has Bills making a Keon Coleman deal that would make tons of sense
Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report put together a trade proposal involving the Bills, with them trading Coleman out west to the San Francisco 49ers for a conditional 2027 5th-round pick.
"The San Francisco 49ers already have some question marks at wide receiver. They brought back Deebo Samuel and sign Mike Evans, but they also lost Jauan Jennings in free agency and Ricky Pearsall to season-ending injured reserve (PCL)." said Knox.
"The 2024 33rd overall pick hasn't developed into a reliable go-to receiver in Buffalo. He wasn't always even part of the game plan in 2025, though he does have a supporter in former offensive coordinator and current head coach Joe Brady." Knox added.
The 49ers are having all kinds of bad luck this offseason for various reasons, but injuries have played a role in it. Them adding some kind of wide receiver help wouldn't be the worst idea, especially to prevent Christian McCaffrey from having to carry the entire offense.
As for the Bills, should Coleman fail to impress early on and he is getting outshined by someone like Joshua Palmer or Skyler Bell, then it would make sense for the Bills to acquire some kind of trade value for Coleman if they don't see a long-term future with him in the organization.
