The Buffalo Bills could desperately use help at wide receiver. Fortunately, there's still a week to go until the trade deadline is officially here so there's time for the Bills to add some help for Josh Allen as this team hopes to pass New England in the divisional standings and win their sixth straight AFC East title.
According to Adam Schefter, the Bills are one of the teams that have made calls about potential wide receivers being dealt ahead of the deadline.
"I'm still counting and waiting on deals for wide receivers. We've got the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Buffalo Bills, the Denver Broncos, other teams that have made calls about wide receivers. We've got the New Orleans Saints sitting on a collection of wide receivers in which I think at least one, at least one, will be dealt. And if I had to bet I'd say Rashid Shaheed is the guy that interests most teams for his speed and his talent and the guy whose contract is up after this year, who the Saints I think would be most willing to part with if the compensation were fair."
This is fantastic news for Bills fans because it means the team isn't content with the weapons they have and want Allen to have better options as this team gears up for the second half of the regular season and playoffs. Rashid Shaheed would be an excellent addition to this offense if he ends up being the guy the Bills zero in on and try to bring to Buffalo.
Adam Schefter’s latest trade deadline report has Bills fans buzzing
Through the first seven games of the season, the Bills have carried their "everyone eats" mentality that worked so well for them last year. Even with that being the case, however, the playoffs are a time when teams need that true elite WR1 to step in and make the plays necessary to win the game.
As of now, Khalil Shakir leads the team in receiving yards with 356 followed by tight end Dalton Kincaid with 310 and Keon Coleman with 267 yards. Throwing Shaheed, or whoever the Bills decide to acquire, would only help this group continue to produce at high levels.
The good news is that Brandon Beane appears to be hot on the trail of adding a weapon for Josh Allen. Hopefully it goes better than the Amari Cooper trade a year ago. As we've seen, these trades can be the difference between advancing to the Super Bowl and watching the game from home so it's time for Beane to swing big here.
