With the trade deadline coming up on November 4, there is still time for the Buffalo Bills management to trade for some much-needed wide receiver help.
While the position is short on speed, they also need players who can break away from defenders in one-on-one circumstances.
5 players the Bills could pursue at NFL trade deadline to help offense
1. Jakobi Meyers - Las Vegas Raiders
Meyers is a versatile, athletic receiver who would fit well with the Bills in Joe Brady's "Everybody Eats" offense. He is not a guy who wants the ball thrown to him all the time, but when he does, he makes a great deal of catches on deep passes.
While playing for one of the most unsuccessful teams in the NFL, Meyers has 329 yards on 29 receptions, averaging 11.3 yards per catch. ESPN projects the 28-year-old receiver to have 932 yards on 82 receptions in 17 games played.
That would be over 200 yards more than the current projection of Keon Coleman of 768 yards on 71 catches. The Bills will take that on any given Sunday for a 17-game season.
2. D.J. Moore - Chicago Bears
Who even remembers Moore is still on the Chicago Bears at this point? It's become the Rome Odunze show with Caleb Williams throwing him the ball instead of the former Carolina Panther.
This season, Moore has only 173 receiving yards on 16 receptions, which so far is underrated for him. He is still projected to have a ho-hum 735 yards on 68 catches. The talented receiver is being wasted on the team.
Moore would be another big, physical receiver for quarterback Josh Allen to throw to, and you would have two basketball-type receivers in Moore and Coleman.
3. Chris Olave - New Orleans Saints
What the Bills would be getting if they were to acquire Olave is a hard-working, dedicated player who brings credibility and loyalty to a franchise.
The skilled receiver has seen many highs and lows over his successful career. He posted back-to-back 1000+ yard seasons in 2022 and 2023, then was troubled with injuries last year.
Olave has tried to stay with the Kellen Moore era. The issue here is that Olave knows the Saints are building for the future, but he wants to win now, and he's not getting any younger at 25.
The former Ohio State Buckeye would love to be closer to home in Upstate, New York, and win his first Super Bowl along with the Bills' first Super Bowl in the final year at Highmark Stadium.
4. Rashid Shaheed - New Orleans Saints
If Olave goes elsewhere or remains a New Orleans Saint, maybe his teammate, Shaheed, may like to win a ring in Buffalo.
The 27-year-old receiver currently has 316 receiving yards on 26 receptions. Right now, that would put him on pace for 895 yards on 74 receptions.
Shaheed is another speedy wideout the Bills could use, especially in the playoffs when defenses tend to play mostly man coverage.
5. A.J. Brown - Philadelphia Eagles
With the Bills' "Everybody Eats" offense, Brown is the least likely candidate to be traded to the Bills, but it would sure cause a stir in the league.
Brown is, without a doubt, the premier wide receiver in the game. With an unhappy man in Philadelphia, he can leave the Super Bowl contenders and help the Bills compete for a Super Bowl ring.
He is currently totaling 274 yards on 25 catches, but is only on pace for a very low 776 yards on 71 receptions.
Still, if he were to come to the Bills, he'd be an immediate playmaker for Allen in a playmaker's league.
