Bills fans are wishing that this would be the week that they would be preparing to see Josh Allen and the Bills getting prepared for Super Bowl LX. However, the Bills were knocked out of the playoffs by the Denver Broncos in the divisional round which ended the Sean McDermott era in Buffalo.
It’s the Joe Brady show now in Buffalo, and both he and Brandon Beane are looking to take this team to new levels. They will have their work cut out for them this offseason, and it could really start with them watching the Super Bowl this Sunday.
There are four players that will take the field on Sunday, who are set to hit free agency in March. Now granted, they could very well get brought back to their respective teams but until that happens, they are set to hit free agency. Buffalo must pay attention to these players from start to finish in this Super Bowl.
Super Bowl LX pending free agents Bills must pay close attention to
WR Rashid Shaheed, Seattle Seahawks
Rashid Shaheed was pinned as a potential trade candidate for the Bills in the middle of this past season, but he was ultimately dealt to the Seahawks from the Saints. On offense, Shaheed had 687 receiving yards (188 yards with Seattle). He also had 2 special teams touchdowns, making him a versatile player that the Bills need.
If Shaheed isn’t brought back to Seattle this offseason, it would not be surprising at all to see the Bills go after him to add to Joe Brady’s offense. He brings quickness and versatility, two things that Buffalo lacks in their wide receiver room.
EDGE K'Lavon Chaisson, New England Patriots
Here is a Joe Brady connection. K’Lavon Chaisson was part of that 2019 LSU team with Brady and Chaisson had 6.5 sacks. Who knows if these two worked directly much, or at all, but the connection is there from that point of view.
Chaisson has found stability in New England after a tough start to his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and then spending 2024 with Las Vegas. He set his career high in sacks (7.5) and had 18 QB hits. He would be an interesting player to have under new DC Jim Leonhard as his defense would be all about pressuring the quarterback from start to finish.
DL Khyiris Tonga, New England Patriots
The Bills must address their run-defense and adding someone like Khyiris Tonga would be a great veteran presence who can be a solid rotational player. Buffalo has to find someone who can plug up the trenches and create a mess to stop the run. Tonga is a very interesting potential option for the Bills should he become available in free agency.
S Coby Bryant, Seattle Seahawks
Cole Bishop took a step forward thanks to the guidance of Jordan Poyer. However, it’s time for Bishop to now be a cornerstone player for this defense under Leonhard. At the same time, they need someone to be a complimentary piece for him. If the Bills are looking to add a veteran in free agency, Coby Bryant from the Seahawks could be that player.
Bryant is a solid run-stopping safety who has also recorded 7 interceptions the last two seasons. It would be a big surprise if he isn’t brought back to Seattle but if he isn't, the Bills could have themselves a great safety duo with Bishop and Bryant.
