The Buffalo Bills have their initial 53-man roster all set as they had to get to the maximum number of players by 6PM EST on Sunday. Ultimately, the Bills made moves that weren’t shocking, but there were a couple of decisions that had fans scratching their heads.
They decided to go with four tight ends and no fullback on the offense. Then they went with just five corners to go with five safeties. It's not something that we have seen before in recent memory, but it is a new era at One Bills Drive.
Even though the Bills have their inital 53, that doesn't mean that their roster is completely set. There were plenty of players that were either waived or released throughout the league and they will be looking for work elsewhere. There are four players that could be looking for a new team in 2026 based on the moves on Sunday, and the Bills should have their eyes on them.

LB Red Murdock
Those that watch University at Buffalo football are familiar with linebacker Red Murdock, who was this year’s “Mr. Irrelevant” in the NFL Draft with being the last selected player. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos. From 2024-2025 at UB, Murdock had no less than 142 total tackles in each season.
According to Mike Klis, who covers the Broncos at 9NEWS, the Broncos waived Murdock but they are planning on putting him on the practice squad if he clears waivers. If the Bills are looking to add more inside linebacker competition, Murdock could be someone that brings great depth and it could balance out the linebacker room for Jim Leonhard's defense.
WR Charlie Jones
The Bills still have to figure out who will be their punt returner going into the season, and the Cincinnati Bengals may have gifted them their answer in Charlie Jones. Ian Rapoport from ESPN and NFL Network reported that the Bengals were releasing Jones and he would solve the Bills’ issue on special teams.
In three seasons with the Bengals, Jones has 462 returned yards and 1 touchdown on punt returns. Then on kickoff returns, Jones has 1,284 yards and 2 touchdowns. So, the Bills would get more receiving depth and their answer on special teams.
QB Will Levis
This might cause some conversations, but what do the Bills have to lose? Will Levis was drafted into a bad situation in Tennessee back in 2023. Then he got a new head coach in Brian Callahan in 2024, and Callahan didn’t even make it two years in Nashville before being fired. Not to mention, the Titans brought in Cam Ward as the No. 1 overall pick in 2025 which put Levis in trouble.
Tom Pelissero reported that the Titans were waiving Levis, which gives him a chance for a fresh start. Even though the Bills have Kyle Allen as Josh Allen's backup, it wouldn't hurt to bring in Levis to have him learn behind the Allen's and set up for success somewhere else in the future. He has talent, it just hasn't clicked at the NFL level.
CB Sean Murphy-Bunting
This would be a bit of a risk considering that Sean Murphy-Bunting his coming off a torn ACL that made him miss all of last season. However, it would be a low risk/high reward addition for the Bills if they were to go after Murphy-Bunting.
With the Bills needing more depth at corner, adding a veteran like Murphy-Bunting would give them more to work with incase injuries pop up. He has 11 career interceptions and 297 total tackles as well. It couldn't hurt the Bills to atleast think about adding him.
