Late on Tuesday night, the Buffalo Bills pulled off the move of the day by agreeing to terms with edge rusher Joey Bosa to a one-year, $12.6 million deal per Adam Schefter. Bosa was recently released by the Los Angeles Chargers, the team he’s been with since 2016 when they were still in San Diego. He now comes out east to the AFC East to join the Bills.
According to Senior NFL Insider Dianna Russini, the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins were also in the mix to try and acquire Bosa. He opts for Buffalo instead.

Bosa has established himself as one of the league’s best pass rushers when healthy. That’s the main key phrase, “when healthy”. There’s no denying that Bosa had some injury concerns the last couple of seasons. While he did appear in 14 games last season, he appeared in 14 total games from 2022-2023.
However, if he manages to stay healthy for the Bills this season, don’t be surprised to see him causing havoc for the Bills’ defense.
4 reasons why Bills fans should absolutely love the signing of Joey Bosa
No long-term commitment
Right off the bat, it’s a one-year deal and $12.6 million is cheap for an edge rusher who, when healthy, can be a one-man game changer for a defense. We’ve seen it plenty of times when he was with the Chargers. The last time the Bills signed a top pass rusher from Los Angeles, it didn’t work out so great due to the fact of the size of the contract.
Getting Bosa on a one-year deal gives the Bills flexibility and doesn’t hurt them for the future on their salary cap.
Ferocious edge rusher coming off the edge
Bosa is one of those players that plays like he is angry and that should get Bills fans excited. He can take on double teams and one-on-one blocks to create pressure. He’s quick off the ball and can force pressure inside or outside the pocket.
Buffalo has had a tough time forcing a consistent pass rush. Bosa can easily fix that with his style of play.
Still well in his prime
At 29 years old, set to turn 30 before the season, Bosa is still in the middle of his prime. Even despite his limited play the last couple of seasons, he’s still young enough to be an impactful player for this defense. It ties back to the non long-term commitment. Knowing that it’s only a one-year deal at 29-30 years old is fantastic.
Fills a major hole heading into NFL Draft
The Bills currently hold the No. 30th overall pick in which there were plenty of positions to target. However, being so far back in the first round, Buffalo can only watch players go off the board for a long time before they get the chance to pick. Even though they extended Greg Rousseau, they still need another edge rusher opposite of him and while Buffalo could draft one, they needed someone who has experience right now. Enter Joey Bosa into the conversation.
The Bills now have flexibility on what they can do next month in Green Bay when they are on the clock.
