The Bills had a good size free agent class that they brought to Buffalo for this coming season. Some got longer deals making them locks to make the roster, while others only signed one-year deals. While everyone is expected to compete for a roster spot, fans can pretty much pinpoint who won’t have to worry about getting a final roster spot.
There are four 2025 free agent signings who the Bills brought in who aren’t just non-guarentees to make the roster, but they shouldn’t make it either way for a variety of reasons.
4 Bills players who just signed with team that shouldn't make final roster
S Damar Hamlin
Throughout the offseason, people have been saying that the Bills’ secondary is their weakest link. Maybe that’s true, maybe it’s not. Either way, Buffalo will have some competition at safety but not necessarily for the starting roles that Taylor Rapp and Cole Bishop should be expected to have.
Instead, there should be a competition between Damar Hamlin and Darrick Forrest, who the Bills brought in from Washington. Forrest is a better overall player and has more success early on in his career, until injuries hit him. If the Bills want more physicality on the back end of the defense, then Forrest is the guy they need to keep instead of Hamlin.
RB Darrynton Evans
Darrynton Evans has yet to take a regular season snap for the Bills. He signed with the team last offseason and didn’t make the roster. He signed with the Bills again after spending time in Chicago last season. Unless an injury happens in the running back room, the same result should be expected where he doesn’t make the cut.
CB Dane Jackson
I understand why the Bills brought back Dane Jackson in free agency, but since Buffalo drafted three cornerbacks including Max Hairston in the first round, it doesn’t make sense to keep him around. Not to mention, the Bills also signed Tre’Davious White and I don’t see him not making the roster. Unless the coaches are looking for coaching continuity within the defensive scheme, Jackson should be on the outside looking in by the time roster is solidified.
OL Kendrick Green
Kendrick Green was brought in by the Bills to compete for no more than a backup spot and while he has a chance to make the roster, I believe Buffalo has better options upfront should a starter go down. Green hasn’t started a full season since 2021 and he’s only started in 4 games the last two seasons.
