The day is finally here Bills fans! After what feels like forever of waiting, the NFL Draft will kick off in Round 1 tonight in Pittsburgh and very soon, the Buffalo Bills will be able to answer any questions that fans may have on what they will be doing. Will they stay at No. 26? Do they trade back? Well, we will soon find out.
The Bills are heading into the draft over the next three days with seven current picks, which includes an extra fifth rounder but no second round pick. Brandon Beane will have to get creative on how he takes on this draft and deliver the best draft class possible.
With the draft taking place later tonight, we have put together a final list of three bold predictions for the Bills from tonight through Saturday.
3 final predictions for Bills heading into NFL Draft
1.) Bills trade back and gain early 2027 draft capital
It really does seem inevitable that the Bills would trade back out of the 26th pick to gain extra draft capital. They did it two years ago where they didn’t just trade back in the first round, but they eventually traded out when they shouldn’t have.
Going into this draft, no one should be surprised to see the Bills trade out of No. 26 and part of the compensation that they should be looking for is draft capital that goes into 2027.
Who knows, maybe they will work some magic to gain a first or second round pick in 2027 and if they do, fans should be very happy with that.
2.) Buffalo goes heavy on defense again
In last year’s draft, the Bills drafted six defensive players out of nine total picks. Their first offensive pick didn’t come until the 5th round when they took Jackson Hawes.
Even with that setup last year, the Bills need to add more on defense because they are switching to a 3-4 defense under Jim Leonhard. Fans shouldn’t be surprised if Buffalo comes out of this draft with more defense than offense.
3.) Bills draft a Day 3 quarterback
This is not a great quarterback draft at all. After Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson, there is a world where the next quarterback may not be drafted until late in the third or even on Day 3. The Bills clearly don’t have a need at quarterback, but drafting someone in the final rounds of the draft is not a bad idea.
Bringing in competition for Kyle Allen, and potentially getting someone who can develop under Josh Allen doesn’t sound like the worst idea.
Maybe someone like a Drew Allar would be a viable option. He’s got the size and arm strength to throw the ball in Buffalo.
