The NFL Draft is just three days away and before you know it, we will be seeing names getting called as prospects will find out where they will continue their football career in the NFL. It is very much expected that the first overall pick will be QB Fernando Mendoza to the Las Vegas Raiders. After that, almost anything can happen and that is what makes the draft so fun.
Buffalo's draft will be starting once pick No. 26 comes around there are so many directions that the Bills could take. Do they stay put or trade back? Do they decide to bring in another wide receiver to pair with D.J. Moore? Or do they start addressing some of the big holes they have on defense? Fans are wondering what Buffalo will do on the first night and beyond.
They have a big decision to make because if they do decide to stay put and make a pick in the first round, they will be waiting until the end of the third round for their second selection.
While fans will be wondering up until Thursday during the draft, NFL Draft Analyst Tony Pauline from EssentiallySports has given an important update that Bills fans will want to hear.
Bills fans get huge draft update about what Buffalo might be looking to do
According to Pauline, Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez is "being spoken about as a possibility for the Buffalo Bills at the 26th pick." Pauline also talked about how the Bills "have been doing an insane amount of work on the off-ball linebackers."
"Rodriguez is also being spoken about as a possibility for the Buffalo Bills at the 26th pick. In my prior first-round mock draft, I had Buffalo selecting CJ Allen of Georgia. I’m told that the Bills, who don’t have a selection until pick No. 91 after their choice in the initial frame, have been doing an insane amount of work on the off-ball linebackers." said Pauline.
With Buffalo switching to a 3-4 defensive scheme under Jim Leonhard and them letting Matt Milano walk in free agency (who still remains unsigned as of right now), the Bills need depth and his replacement as someone who plays well as an off-ball linebacker.
Rodriguez is a very intriguing prospect that could very well help him land in the first round. Since 2024, Rodriguez has over 100+ total tackles, 10 pass deflections, and 10 forced fumbles. All of that is just within the last two seasons at Texas Tech, making him a potential great replacement for Milano.
Buffalo will have to decide very soon on what they want to do in the first round and if they decide to stay put, they have to make sure that whoever they decide to draft will be an impactful player from the start. Rodriguez has a high-ceiling and could very surprise people.
