The Buffalo Bills roster is beginning to take shape as we head into the summer months. With training camp beginning shortly, we’ll get to see some familiar and new Bills players fighting for roster spots.
This may be the deepest Bills roster we’ve seen in quite a while, and with no glaring holes on their roster, the Bills look to be in pretty good shape right now. Let’s take a look at three players whose jobs may be in jeopardy this summer.
Defensive back Cam Lewis
Lewis has been a big piece to their defensive and special teams units, but with the additions to both safety and cornerback, Lewis’ time may be drawing to an end in Buffalo. They’ll likely keep four safeties, with one of their newest additions, Darrick Forrest, being one of them.
At cornerback, they’ve made a handful of additions, and Brandon Codrington has a real chance at becoming the team's backup slot corner to Taron Johnson. Lewis will have a tough time fighting off some of the team’s new faces in the coming months. Releasing Lewis saves the team $1.7M in cap space, according to Spotrac.
Linebacker Baylon Spector
Spector, who’s been with the team since 2022, is in a very deep linebacker room that now has a fully healthy Matt Milano joining the group. Buffalo hasn’t made any additions to the position this off-season, but with Dorian Williams and Joe Andreessen both having strong seasons in 2024, Spector’s job will be in jeopardy.
Spector has dealt with injuries throughout his Bills tenure, suffering two calf injuries in 2024 that forced him to land on injured reserve both times. Spector’s lack of availability will play a huge factor in the Bills’ decision-making, and it may mean he doesn’t make the roster. If the Bills release Spector, they’ll save $1.1M in cap space, according to Spotrac.
Offensive lineman Kendrick Green
Green is one of the Bills' newest additions, coming over from the Houston Texans. Green comes to Buffalo with 19 starts under his belt, however, he’s been very unproductive throughout his three-year career.
He only made one start through the 17 games he was active for in 2024 and missed time in 2023 due to an injury. Green comes in fighting for a backup guard spot with Alec Anderson, who’s already secured his spot on the team, and second-year lineman Sedrick Van Pran-Granger who split time as both a center and guard in his rookie year. Green will need a strong summer to make up ground.
