Grading Buffalo Bills drafting Dorian Williams in 2023 NFL Draft

The Buffalo Bills focused on the offensive side of the ball with their first two picks in the 2023 NFL Draft by selecting tight end Dalton Kincaid in the first round and then guard O’Cyrus Torrence in the second round.

In the third round, the Bills addressed one of their biggest question marks of the roster which is linebacker with the departure of Tremaine Edmunds in free agency. The Bills have a number of linebackers already on the roster set to compete to be his replacement with A.J. Klein, Terrel Bernard and Tyrel Dodson and now Dorian Williams out of Tulane will also factor into that competition this summer.

Grade for the Buffalo Bills selecting Dorian Williams in the 2023 NFL Draft: B+

Dorian Williams was a productive linebacker at Tulane with 312 total tackles, 9.5 sacks and 27 tackles for a loss. This past season alone, Williams had 132 total tackles, five sacks, 8.5 tackles for a loss but made plays in the passing game with two interceptions and seven passes defended.

He isn’t as big as Edmunds at 6’1″ and 228 pounds but does an excellent job in coverage as evidenced by those interceptions and passes defended last season. This is valuable for the type of defense the Buffalo Bills run with only two linebackers on the field a majority of the snaps.

The linebacker position wasn’t very deep but Dorian Williams is a player who has good upside and at this point of the NFL Draft is a good pick.

Unless the Buffalo Bills trade back into the third round, this is the final pick for Day 2 of the 2023 NFL Draft for them.

They are scheduled to have two picks tomorrow after trading their fourth round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars to move up in the first round to select Kincaid. Their last two picks is 137th overall in the fifth round, which came from the Arizona Cardinals in return for Cody Ford, and 205th overall in the sixth round.
