Greg Rousseau (2021 NFL Draft)

The Buffalo Bills didn’t have a first round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft after trading that pick to the Minnesota Vikings as part of their trade package for Stefon Diggs. In 2021, the Bills had one of the last draft picks of the first round and selected defensive end Greg Rousseau.

The former University of Miami pass rusher is similar to players like Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds in that he had a very high ceiling because of his measurables but had some concerns coming out of college. For Greg Rousseau, the biggest concern was that he had only one season as a starter in college after sitting out the 2021 season due to the pandemic.

That one season though Rousseau was productive as he had 15.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for a loss. The Buffalo Bills were smart to believe that one season wasn’t just a one-time thing as Rousseau has been a key part of the defense as he has started 30 games over the past two seasons and had 12 sacks and 24 QB hits.

Entering his third year, the hope is that Rousseau will continue to improve and take that next step in 2022. If he is able to do that, this grade will only go up but for now, this looks like a good selection by Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane.

Grade: B+
