Trade Number 2: The Bills send a different wide receiver, plus two picks, to acquire Mike Evans
In a second deal, again revolving only around the wide receiver position, the Bills would send last year’s rookie Khalil Shakir to Tampa Bay. In addition to Shakir, the Bucs would get a fifth and seventh rounder. The fifth-round pick would come this year at no. 137 overall.
Last year, Shakir appeared in 14 games, playing on just 29 percent of offensive snaps. He caught 10 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown. The fifth-round pick out of Boise State is just 23 years old and would give Tampa Bay a potential long-term solution at wide receiver.
Coming out of college a year ago, Shakir was looked at as a versatile playmaker who could be used in a variety of ways. With the Bucs possibly thinking futuristically, Shakir gives them a much more intriguing offensive weapon than Evans, who is simply an outside wide receiver who does a couple of things very well.
