Could the Buffalo Bills trade any players currently on the roster during the 2023 NFL Draft?

The NFL Draft is a time for teams to make significant changes to their roster. Those changes usually come in the form of draft picks but this could also include trading veterans to acquire additional draft picks.

The Buffalo Bills have six draft picks in the 2023 NFL Draft after trading away a pick in the trades for Nyheim Hines and Dean Marlowe at the trade deadline last season while acquiring a fifth round pick before the season for Cody Ford.

When looking at the Bills roster currently, these are four players that could potentially be available to add additional draft picks for this year’s NFL Draft.

Ed Oliver

Ed Oliver is one of the more polarizing players on the Buffalo Bills because he has shown at times he can be a dominant force in the middle of this defensive line. The issue with Oliver lies in the fact that he is very streaky and the expectations are higher for a player who was drafted in the Top 10.

The Buffalo Bills picked up Ed Oliver’s fifth-year option last offseason and he is entering the final year under contract with a sizable cap hit north of $10 million. The Bills may consider moving Oliver during the NFL Draft to create some cap space if they believe they are not going to be able to reach a long-term deal before he hits free agency.

However, for a team that is trying to reach a Super Bowl it could make sense to keep Oliver in a contract year that could see him finally reach that potential and be a force for this defense. This is why I believe Ed Oliver could be available but teams will likely have to overpay if they want to add the former first round pick.
